Farrah Faucet - Grief Bubbles and Other Adhesive Residues CD (Handmade Birds)

"Those that question the boundaries of noise as true art have not engaged with the musical texts of farrah faucet. Seductively violent, spiritually cunning, brazenly provocative, farrah faucet is the future of a genre that can often fall flat in the face of substance.

On "grief bubbles and other adhesive residues", every nuance, every pop, every hiss, is penetrating the space to leave its sonic canvas rife with scars, and the listener making a decision of whether to delve further in or eject. The embodiment of true catharsis, "grief bubbles..." is equal parts an aural exorcism and exercise in spiritual elation. An examination of the push and pull of temptation, the consequences of carnal submission, the remnants of guilt, and the refreshment of baptism as we fall, push through, resurface, and fall again. And with every turn of the knob, farrah faucet keeps us edging: one deeply conflicted inner monologue awakens another which scaffolds to build the album's ferocity, and just when release is in sight, pulls back to set up the next catharsis.

Poetic form is not lost here. Those that dare travel this road in its entirety will be rewarded: "eve, after the fall" and "tithings" is the opening couplet to this epic. Tearing through frequencies like cancer cells, each measure of these tracks devours the next only to resurface twice as aggressive as its predecessor. "tear tear" functions as a bridge from the opening couplet to the album's centerpiece, "cracks and bleeds and weeps (oh, feelings)" which is no less intense but provides the space to meditate on the album's opening sequence. Release feels near, an experience akin to John Milton reaching down to discover his own pussy. Swirl, scree, fuck, violence, fuck, rest, the work continues to operate as an intellectual hijacking. "every molecule of dirt (grief eating)" provides just the right bookend to the album. The listener is satisfied and simultaneously submits to the world of farrah faucet. Wanting more.

Audio composition exists on multiple planes. For most, it is a mosaic of sound gliding across a given surface from the artist to the listener only to evaporate and be replaced by the next wave of sound. But that which is most carefully crafted, the kind that engages the mind and body on a visceral level, is not so easy to find, and even harder to ingest. farrah faucet is the latter- a master of craft, of nuance, and at times, of facemelting provocation and a force that pushes back to challenge the listener to the point of resignation and bliss. Simply put, farrah faucet will undoubtedly leave you shook."
